I'm over at the Burrow today reviewing Kathryn Stockett's debut novel The Help and talking about how as writers we have a unique opportunity to impact the way people think and possibly behave.
Run over and check it out. (link) I'll be interested to hear your thoughts!

On my way ...
ReplyDeleteThank you for the excellent review, Leigh.
ReplyDeleteI started reading the book today, and am struck by how much it reminded me of my favourite book (To Kill a Mockingbird). Just two chapters into the book, but I am already drawing parallels with India Today ;-)
Going to check it out now.

ReplyDelete@Tracy-it's easy to forget or lose sight of. At least for me~ :o)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mel~ :o) <3
Great review! That's a lot how I feel about The Mockingbirds. I was afraid because the story centered around a date rape scenario that it would come across as preachy, but that was soooo not the case. I agree that the best books are the ones that open our eyes a little.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tracy! I'd probably be a little hesitant w/Mockingbirds, too. Since becoming a mother of two little girls, I've discovered my reaction to things has really changed. :p
ReplyDeleteBut you're so right about what makes books "best"~ <3
I'll head over there today! =)
ReplyDeleteGoing there today...a day late. Sorry :-(
