Last Days... Summer, the Tour, to #WIN

Fall is in the air, friends--can you believe it? I'll just go on record and say I do NOT. This has been the fastest summer evah!

It started with the Dragonfly release, then the SFINE author event, which was Awesome--visiting with great friends Jolene Perry, Bethany Lopez, Aleatha Romig, Ashley Wilcox... I need to share pictures... #comingsoon!

I also had the privilege of doing a library workshop in Fairhope, near my old hometown, and the local bookstore there is carrying signed copies of all my paperbacks now. #cool #humbling

The Undertow Tour has been a great success! Today's the final day, and I'm over on two of my FAVORITE blogs with excerpts and reviews...

-Tiffany Talks Books has an Exclusive Anna + Julian excerpt that starts like this:

"My dilemma was heavy on my mind, but more than that, I didn’t want to wait anymore. I’d read too much about people in love being kept apart.

I was terrified of us getting closer and Julian finding out what I knew, but in this moment, with him standing right here in front of me, I didn’t want to think about Bill Kyser anymore. I didn’t want to worry about the past. I wanted to think about my future..." (click here for the rest)

-What's Beyond Forks? has all the gorgeous picture-teasers and a great review.

At both stops, you can still enter to #WIN signed paperbacks, exclusive eARCs of Watercolor, and more!

And don't forget, Dragonfly is on sale for 99 cents only two more days!

On Amazon

Next week, the girls go back to school, and I get back into writing mode. I actually love the fall, and I can't wait to share more of Anna + Julian's story with you...

Is it okay to be a little nostalgic, first?

Have a super week, reader-friends~

Exclusive Excerpt from The Only One:

I looked around the basement, sipping whatever concoction some guy poured out of a cooler. He called it a ‘magic potion’ and I hoped that didn’t mean he rufied it. I don’t know how Monica talked me into this.

A horde of girls clad in nothing more than lingerie pushed past me as if I were nothing more than another one of the paddles on the paneled wall. I tried to pull back but then I came face to chest with a set of abs and felt all of the magic potion cascade down my cardigan.

I gasped once the cold liquid soaked through both my layers and hit my skin.

“Too bad, that was such a nice sweater…” A deep voice said.

I looked up, all the way past the chiseled six pack and to a pair of cool blue eyes. “Maybe you should just take it off up in my room and I can help you dry off.” He leaned in, his full lips right on my ear. “Or make you wetter.”

My breath caught in my throat, rendering me speechless. Luckily my best friend Monica jumped between us, pushing the guy back so I got a full view of him and realized he was only wearing a loin cloth and a large smile.

"Down John Boy." She scowled at him and then turned to me, almost knocking her beret off. "What the hell happened to you?"

"I-I-I spilled my drink."

Monica's eyes narrowed as she looked down at the red liquid soaking through my gray sweater. She whipped her head around to the loin cloth clad guy. "Was this your fault? Are you trying to get my friend naked?"

He held up his hands, a cockeyed grin on his face. "Purely an accident, Lib."

Ah, now I knew where I’d seen him before. He had come into the coffee shop we worked at a few times. I don’t think he even glanced in my direction more than to hand me his student ID to pay, but was always calling Monica ‘Lib.’ I’m guessing because she was an extreme liberal.

Monica's boyfriend, the governor's son Trey Chapman, pushed through the crowd. When I usually saw him he was polished in dress pants and a dress shirt, but his Halloween costume was nothing more than a pair of American flag boxers, a dress shirt, and some gray hairspray. He looked ridiculous. I still don't know how Monica talked him into the Clinton and Lewinsky couples costumes.

"Hey, I’ve been looking for you." He slipped his arm around Monica's waist. "What's going on here?"

"Your big brother here spilled a drink on Melanie to try and get her naked."

"Hey!" John yelled.

"It wasn't his fault," I piped in. "It’s crowded here and he just ran into me. It’s fine."

"Fine?" Monica raised her eyebrows. "That Hermione costume you've been wearing since middle school is covered in ever clear and Kool aid. That’s not fine."

"I haven't worn this since middle school!" Okay, truth was, it was my go-to costume. I bought it for the first movie's midnight showing and wore it for every movie opening and Halloween since.

"Whatever." Monica turned her head to Trey and tugged on his shirt. "You can just wear Trey's shirt."

Can't WAIT for this one guys! In the meantime, have a super day! Back tomorrow~

"I walked over to the desk and took the top off my husband’s decanter of scotch. I’ve never been much of a drinker, so I poured a tall glass to the brim.

My first big gulp burned all the way down, past my shredded heart to my trembling stomach. I coughed and continued looking for evidence of the traitor in my life.

On the table at the foot of the stairs was a shot of the two of us wearing sombreros in Tango Sol. I threw it as hard as I could, smashing a plate-glass mirror..."  (click here to read the rest!)

Undertow: Lexy Talks About Meg & the Dream Cast!

True Confession, reader-friends: I was so nervous about plunging readers so deeply into the story of Meg, Lexy, & Bill in Undertow.

Their story is really sad and pretty twisted. And readers only just met two of these characters in Dragonfly...

But everything that happens in Undertow controls the rest of the series, so you had to know. It's going to touch every character, and it really hits Julian hardest.

Can you hear my HUGE sigh of relief that so many reader-friends are loving it?

This Five Bloody Crescent review by Roxy Kade made me smile so big: "My heart shattered into a million tiny pieces, rebuilt itself and then melted over and over again with each flip of the page."

Read the whole thing here (link).

And then Asheley Tart loved Dragonfly so much, I was seriously biting my nails when she read Undertow. Her 5-star review made the birthday bright yesterday.

"I didn't realize that I would end up so emotionally invested, devastated, in love with, and wrapped up in Undertow. I just wasn't expecting all of this, but I gosh how I loved it."

Please run over and check out her full review (here)!

TODAY on the Blog Tour, I have special treats for you!

-Lexy lists TEN THINGS she thinks you should know about Meg on Brianna Lee Book Reviews (link).

Those two were life-long best friends, and Undertow shows how that friendship changed and ultimately shattered. So it's interesting stuff.

-You'll also get to see the DREAM CAST for the series--including FAN-made Dream Casts over on FicTalk (link).

***I'll still send a signed bookmark to fans who email their Dream Cast collages to me, leightmoore(at)gmail.com and I'll post them on my Facebook Page.

You can also still enter to #WIN signed copies of Dragonfly and Undertow, Exclusive eARCs of Watercolor, private journals, and all kinds of swag at both stops. So run over and visit!

Fun times. I hope you're enjoying the books--I hope you'll leave a review!

Thank you so much. Have a super day, reader-friends~

Happy Birthday Undertow! And Readers FT #WIN!

(I know, you're all "Wait. Didn't that just...")

So many FAB reader-friends are helping me celebrate today, and I just wish I could hug you all in person!

I can't, so here's a big, virtual ((squeeze)) to everyone who's read my books or plans to--and even more to all you sweeties who've already added Watercolor to your Goodreads TBR shelf.

Amazing.

Back in 2010, when I'd written Dragonfly (#1), there wasn't a market for this kind of book--New Adult, where characters graduate high school, start their careers (or their lives), etc.

On Amazon
Agents liked my concept, and I got loads of compliments.... but no takers.

At that time, self-publishing was not an option, so I sadly put Undertow in the virtual drawer, shed a few tears, believed it would take a miracle for it to see the light of day...

My heart broke.

Undertow is a tough, tragic read, but I love it so much. And I was sure no one would ever read it.

So I can't tell you how much this day means to me.

Every single positive review makes me smile, and I wish I could just squeeze you again!

The Dragonfly series was my first book dream, and now it's coming true.

THANK YOU!

Today for me is all about dreams coming true, the power of READERS, and just yanno... *sigh* I'm just smiling over here.

Have a SUPER day, reader- and writer-friends~

Get Undertow TODAY, Dragonfly for 99 cents, and a HOT Teaser!

I told a reader-friend last week the BIG SEKRIT behind indie authors and these "surprise!" early releases...

The Truth is, Amazon doesn't allow pre-orders for independent authors. So we have to put them "live" a few days early in order to send purchase links to blog tour and release day participants.

What does that mean???

It means Undertow will be out TODAY!

And I'll update this page with purchase links on

Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Kobo | iTunes

as they become available! (iTunes is always the slowest...)

AND in case you're still catching up, Dragonfly is only 99 CENTS this week!

Now for the super-sexy picture teaser featuring Anna & Julian... I have to thank writer-friend Magan Vernon for this one...

See what you think~

It's a big week for me, friends. Undertow is a different, it's New Adult, it's darker and more tragic, it's a little edgy... and I love it so much. I'm anxious to see what readers say.

I hope it's a GREAT week for you~

Undertow Weekend Picture-Teaser

Happy Friday, reader-friends!

We're counting down the days over here until Undertow goes LIVE!

Today I finished formatting the paperback copies, and I have to say, they are GORGEOUS. Thanks again to the lovely Jolene Perry (link) for her beautiful cover.

She also gave me this glowing endorsement for Undertow:

"An incredibly powerful sequel to Dragonfly. I found myself riveted to the last page by the dept of feeling, loss, tragedy, and love in this gorgeously woven story. This is a definite must-read." --Jolene Perry, author of Out of Play

Me = *sniff*

Now, what you've been waiting for, the next picture-teaser for your viewing pleasure...

(My only issue with this one is the girl's hair is too blonde, but that's Anna. I'm making a new one for next week, but the excerpt here is awesome.)

Falling in love will pull you under...

-Bill Kyser has a plan to take the sandy farms of his hometown and turn them into a world-class tourist destination--and become a billionaire in the process.

-Meg Weaver has a plan to hold onto Bill no matter what she has to do.

Three friends, three dreams.
One fatal decision will change all their lives forever.

In Dragonfly, Bill Kyser gave Anna the three journals that held the story behind the powerful developer's seclusion and the damaged lives of his family members.

Anna hopes to find a way for Julian to know the truth, but as she digs deeper into the tragic events of the past, she realizes silence could be the only option.

Now she's in an alliance with the man she formerly feared. And if Julian finds out what she knows, she could lose for good the boy she's starting to love.

Undertow Exclusive Excerpt #1

Hi, reader-friends!

I'm home again, home again and digging out like crazy. It's about to be a bizzay two weeks leading up to the release of Undertow...

...and I am SO EXCITED!

To get you in the mood, here's a special Journal-Entry teaser from Bill's diary. Bill is Jack, Lucy, & (secretly) Julian's dad...

See what you think:

I released the breath I didn’t realize I was holding and slowly turned away. I walked to the windows to stare out at the darkness. I was beaten. I could never win this fight with her.

“I know,” I said quietly. “I knew you would say that. I’ve been going over and over it in my mind, but I knew in the end you would always say those words.”

Her voice was small. “I do care about you, and if things were different…”

“But they’re not.”

“They’re not,” she repeated.

I turned back and tried to smile through the pain. “So what now? What do you want from me?”

She tried to smile back, but a single tear hit her cheek. It ripped me in two.

“Nothing,” she said. “I’d like to have this baby if that’s okay with you. You don’t have to do anything. I can take care of us, and you won’t ever have to worry—”

“I’m not worried,” I said. “Whatever makes you happy.”

“I’m sorry if you’re angry,” her voice broke. “I’m sorry if… if I’ve hurt you.”

“There’s no need to apologize. You’re right. Of course, you’re right. About everything.” There was only one thing I wanted. “I just… I hope you’ll stay here. I’d like to be able to see you. Both of you. Even if it’s from a distance.”

Her brow creased. “I’m not sure that’s a good idea.”

“I won’t force you, but I wish you would. That way I could help you if you ever needed it. You wouldn’t even have to ask, just let me know somehow.”

She nodded. “I’ll think about it.”

I walked slowly to where she stood and reached down to take her hand. I looked at it a moment, thinking how precious it was to me now. “I want to know that you’re okay.”

On Goodreads
She slipped her hand away. “You should probably go.”

I nodded and turned to leave. My whole body ached with the knowledge I could never change her mind. She would never allow me to be anything other than Meg’s husband. It was right, but the pain was far worse than I’d imagined it would be.

For a whole day I had allowed myself to hope a baby might change things for us. But I knew it never would. She was right, we were years too late.

Happy INDIEpendence week (link), reader-friends!

The Indelibles (link) are taking this holiday opportunity to celebrate independent authors we've discovered across the past year. I'm spotlighting author Kelly Oram, who's hosting a Giveaway for a $50 Amazon Gift Card (below).

TODAY is the day to vote for Ull, so if you would, go here and give him some love (link).

Now for Author Kelly Oram!

Visit them All!
I first noticed Kelly with her book V is for Virgin, which I still want to read. And when I saw The Avery Shaw Experiment, I had to scoop it up.

I'm so happy I did! ASE gets 5 sparkly stars from me! (And I think it'll appeal very much to fans of The Truth About Faking.)

"Aves" and Grayson are working on a science experiment to help her get over her broken heart. He's an "impartial observer" (in a way that's similar to fake dating), but Grayson, the jock/most popular hottie at school, is already falling for Avery, the cute little science geek.

Watching Avery work through her feelings, get over her ideal dream of being with Aiden through dating--and occasionally kissing--Grayson, is fun, swoony, and at times steamy.

Avery's all wounded innocence trying to move on, while Grayson is charming determination to get the girl. So if you love Jason and Harley, you will LURV Grayson and Avery.

Here's the scoop on The Avery Shaw Experiment!
On Amazon

When Avery Shaw’s heart is shattered by her life-long best friend, she chooses to deal with it the only way she knows how—scientifically.

The state science fair is coming up and Avery decides to use her broken heart as the topic of her experiment. She’s going to find the cure. By forcing herself to experience the seven stages of grief through a series of social tests, she believes she will be able to get over Aiden Kennedy and make herself ready to love again. But she can’t do this experiment alone, and her partner (ex partner!) is the one who broke her heart.

Avery finds the solution to her troubles in the form of Aiden’s older brother Grayson. The gorgeous womanizer is about to be kicked off the school basketball team for failing physics. He’s in need of a good tutor and some serious extra credit. But when Avery recruits the lovable Grayson to be her “objective outside observer,” she gets a whole lot more than she bargained for, because Grayson has a theory of his own: Avery doesn’t need to grieve. She needs to live. And if there’s one thing Grayson Kennedy is good at, it’s living life to the fullest.
