I used to blame it on my ability to multi-task. Total cop-out. I've had to force myself to live in the moment and consider what that really means. "Do or do not" is my new motto. Publishing is a tough business in general, but I also have an obsessive personality. It's easy for me to invest a lot of my time and energy to my writing, which isn't right when you have a family. I have to work really hard to pull away from it, and not because I don't love my family. It's just the guilt! When I'm writing, I feel guilty I'm not with them, when I'm with them, I feel guilty I'm not writing. So issues of availability are often tied to guilt for me. But I'm working on it, trying to allot time just for both, trying really hard to focus and be present at whatever I'm doing at the time I'm doing it. My family deserves my availability and presence of mind. Great post, Leigh.Carolina M.
